Why are the Spider Droids in the Book of Boba Fett Trailer So Horrifying?

The BT-16 Spider droid, also called the BRAIN WALKER was a terrifying droid model that patrolled Jabba’s Palace both in Return of the Jedi and the Book of Boba Fett Trailer.

These droids were utilized by a mysterious religious order known as the B’omarr monks who believed that they should completely cut themselves off from all physical sensation in hopes of gaining enlightenment. These monks embarked on mental journeys which were impossible to comprehend by any other being, and as they came closer to enlightenment, they would completely stop using normal speech, lose all hearing, and disconnect from their taste, smell and touch.

Upon reaching their fully enlightened state, they would have their brains removed and transferred into nutrient-filled jars, freed from the sensation of normal life. These jars were then carried by the Brain Walker droids. If one little thing went wrong with the brain transfer process, it could induce a horrible psychosis in the detached brain, causing it to mentally scream out for days on end, and subject the monk’s mind to horrendous torture.

Finally, the brains were stored inside the great room of the Enlightened in Jabba’s palace until they were either destroyed or rotted away.
