The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series is an upcoming Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ series that was announced by Kathleen Kennedy during Disney Investor Day 2020. It is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and will be the rematch of the century between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen has been cast to reprise his role as newly anointed Darth Vader in the wake of the creation of the Galactic Empire under the rule of Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine). The series will feature Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan during his exile on Tatooine.
In today’s Star Wars News update, we take a look at a new and exciting rumor for the Kenobi series – that Lucasfilm want to include more Prequels characters for fan-service. So far, apart from Obi Wan and Anakin, we know that Qui-Gon Jinn might return after speculation that Liam Neeson was contacted and with Ray Park teasing a Darth Maul return, is he an option for the series. We also speculate whether or not Samuel L. Jackson could return as Mace Windu after he seemingly was killed at the hands of Palpatine and Anakin before the events of Order 66 during Revenge of the Sith. Is Mace Windu still alive? Did Mace Windu survive? We may soon find out… Recently, we learned that the production designer who worked on Star Wars: The Last Jedi returns for the show meaning that it will be visually spectacular. Temuera Morrison who recently reprised the role of Boba Fett in the Mandalorian Season 2 might also play Commander Cody and Captain Rex from the Clone Wars after he finishes production with Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) on The Book of Boba Fett.
We also discuss the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series which drop on April 2nd – Caravan of Courage, the Battle For Endor, The Clone Wars 2003 and so on. I talk about how The Battle for Endor which features Ewoks from Return of the Jedi, is a weird and dark Star Wars movie – very different to space opera and sci-fi that we are used to in the Star Wars fandom.
