Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands is a 2025 three-issue canon comic miniseries (collected as a 2026 hardcover/graphic novel) published by Dark Horse Comics. It is a Halloween-themed horror special written by Cavan Scott (known for Tales from Vader’s Castle, Tales from the Death Star, and High Republic work).
Premise
On the planet Ryloth, Twi’leks speak of the Nightlands—a spectral realm where their spirits go after death. On rare nights when the veil between the living and the dead is thin, contact is said to be possible.
Young Padawan Anakin Skywalker (visiting with Obi-Wan Kenobi) attempts to summon the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn. What answers instead is the Nightlander, a malevolent entity (described as a Star Wars “boogeyman”) that seeks to possess a powerful living host and spread despair across the galaxy. The three issues follow different generations of heroes confronting it:
- Issue #1 (Sept 2025, art by Soo Lee): Young Anakin and Obi-Wan on Ryloth.
- Issue #2 (Oct 2025, art by Vincenzo Riccardi): Luke and Leia (post-Empire Strikes Back era).
- Issue #3 (Dec 2025, art by Robert Hack): Rey, Finn, Leia, and others (near The Rise of Skywalker).
The Nightlander was designed by legendary concept artist Iain McCaig; covers are by Francesco Francavilla.
