Lucasfilm and Disney have officially announced the release date of the Book of Boba of Boba Fett, as well as giving us the first poster for the series, which hints at what Boba might be doing in the show. So, lets very quickly break down this announcement and what it means for the future of Star Wars.

Just now, across all of the Star Wars social media accounts a brand new poster was dropped, featuring boba fett sitting menacingly on the throne of the now dead Jabba the Hutt. This doesn’t give us too much new information as we already knew he was going to be taking over operations, but it tells us that he’s very serious about protecting his claim to the throne. On top of that, we also learned the release date for the show, which is the 29th of December 2021.

So yeah, they’re really squeezing that in to the very end of this year. That date also happens to be on a Wednesday, instead of the typical Friday releases we’ve been used to with the Mandalorian season 2 and the Bad Batch, but it does algin with Disney’s new release schedule, which is to put TV series on Wednesdays, and new original movies on the friday. Furthermore, that also tells us that 2022 is going to be the biggest year for Star Wars content, honestly since the release of the prequels at this point, with up to 49 weeks of new original TV content next year.
