Order 66, the event that crippled the Jedi order and largely eliminated them from the galaxy they swore to protect. A ploy by the Sith to eliminate all that could potentially appose them. While order 66 and the great Jedi purge killed the majority of the Jedi there were some who resisted and survived the initial attack. Some of the Jedi abandoned the order entirely and others would return to fight years later.
