The First Order’s top trooper takes center stage in Star Wars: Captain Phasma.
When we last saw Captain Phasma at the end of The Force Awakens, the chrome-clad commander had been left inside one of Starkiller Base’s trash compactors by Finn, Chewie, and Han. But Phasma fans need not worry. This is one stormtrooper who is far too cool for an off-screen exit.
Star Wars: Captain Phasma is a four-issue miniseries debuting in September, which chronicles Phasma’s against-the-odds saga of survival. Writer Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, A-Force) and artist Marco Checchetto (Star Wars: Shattered Empire, “The Screaming Citadel” crossover) are the creative team, with issue #1 featuring a cover by Paul Renaud.
“It’s exciting enough when someone lets you contribute to the Star Wars universe in any real way,” Thompson told StarWars.com, “but when they let you create the fi rst ever Phasma story for comics? Well, that’s about as good as it gets! I’m a huge fan of both [actor] Gwendoline Christie and Phasma. Christie is magnetic and Phasma has so much fascinating untapped potential, which I can’t wait to help unlock in our comic.”
As she fi ghts her way free from the depths of the trash masher, Phasma will face dangers far more dire than mere dianogas. In Captain Phasma,
readers will witness the collapse of Starkiller Base from the inside.
Star Wars: Captain Phasma is a part of the “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” publishing program.
