The story picks up with Tava Ren and the Knights of Ren returning to Kylo Ren. They aren’t coming back simply to rejoin him: they’ve encountered a new and extremely dangerous droid threat and need the First Order’s help.
Kylo is now Supreme Leader, so the crisis gives him another problem to solve while he’s pursuing his larger plans for the galaxy. The central question is whether even Kylo’s considerable power and the resources of the First Order can stop this new threat.
At the same time, Hux and Allegiant General Pryde are increasingly at odds. Their rivalry is happening behind Kylo’s back and threatens to interfere with Kylo’s plans.
So the issue essentially has three parallel conflicts:
- Kylo Ren vs. the mysterious droid threat
- Kylo Ren and Tava Ren / the Knights of Ren
- Hux vs. Pryde, as the First Order’s internal power struggle grows
It’s set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, continuing Charles Soule’s exploration of Kylo’s time as Supreme Leader.
