Why the Ronin Has a Lightsaber Scabbard - Star Wars 1

In the Star Wars: Visions short, The Duel, the character of the Ronin has a scabbard for his lightsaber. I saw some people confused or even sometimes angry about that concept, despite the point of this series being to remix certain aspects of Star Wars. But there actually is a reason the Ronin has a scabbard, which we learn in Emma Condon’s book Ronin.

His lightsaber is broken. It no longer deactivates. I believe that’s to symbolize his own story. He’s a man on a mission, a Sith hunter, and he’s been doing it nonstop for twenty years. So maybe the lightsaber constantly being activated and dangerous mirrors the kind of person he is. Unable to rest until his mission is complete.

But since the lightsaber was broken he had to find a way to contain it. He did so by creating a scabbard out of the lightsaber hilts of fallen enemies.
