These final episodes show what Ahsoka was doing during the film; she was fighting during the Siege of Mandalore. The Mandalorians have played a major part in the Star Wars saga and the show in particular. Ahsoka leads a Republic resistance to aid in defeating Darth Maul. In the ninth episodes, «Old Friends Not Forgotten,» Ahsoka asks her old friends Anakin and Obi-Wan for help. They initially do but are called away when they receive a report that General Grievous has attacked Coruscant and kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine.
Anakin and Obi-Wan’s mission to rescue Palpatine is the opening sequence of Revenge of the Sith firmly placing the Siege of Mandalore at the exact same time. Beyond this story cue, the music also indicates the sync. During a scene in which Ahsoka jumps from a gunship to begin the attack, a familiar music cue plays. It is the exact same John Williams piece that played over the Battle of Coruscant in Revenge of the Sith giving a nice subtle parallel between Ahsoka and Anakin.
In the next episode, «The Phantom Apprentice,» Darth Maul reveals to Ahsoka that he is aware of Palpatine’s plan to turn Anakin to the dark side. Maul’s plan on Mandalore was a trap to lure Anakin there so Maul could kill him as a final vengeance against Palpatine.
