In Star Wars Episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker, we get a scene in the novel that has Palpatine explaining just what he tried to do to Luke in Return of the Jedi. It’s a pivotal scene that could have really changed the future of the Galaxy as a whole. Vader stepped in and saved his son before the final scene with the lightning, which to me is pretty interesting. Anakin had returned in that moment far before we originally thought. I like it.
