In contrast, in the Legends canon, Leia does complete her training, just not with Luke. Rather, she trains with Saba Sebatyne who takes her as an apprentice during the Yuuzhan Vong War. Saba herself is a Barabel Jedi of the New Jedi Order, an order built by Luke in the immediate aftermath of the Empire’s collapse.
