This arc opens with a training session of A’sharad Hett by the Dark Woman. Shortly after, Ki-Adi-Mundi is called to a session of the Jedi Council. The matter at hand: insurgents on the planet Lannik are finally willing to begin peace talks. The talks are to take place on the planet Malastare, in the Mid Rim. Six members of the Council are chosen to go as mediators: Ki-Adi-Mundi, Even Piell, Plo Koon, Adi Gallia, Yaddle, and Mace Windu. As Mace Windu and Eeth Koth complete the Concordance of Fealty, Ki-Adi-Mundi finds his Padawan talking with a young Anakin Skywalker.
