The Reason Boba Fett Wore a Braid of Hair on His Armor 1

Boba Fett was one of the most feared Bounty Hunters in the Galaxy. Because of this, he sometimes loved to show off and collect trophies from his successful missions. One of these included a long stand of blonde hair which he proudly displayed from his shoulder. Where did this come from? Well its more disturbing and brutal than you might think. So much so that he even got rid of it when he attempted to turn good.

During the very early days of the Empire, not long after Order 66, the Empire took part is a horrible scheme known as the Subjugation of Kashyyyk. As part of this program, they occupied the Wookiee homeworld and began to kidnap and enslave any Wookiees they could capture, sending them to the Spice mines of Kessel. This program was so brutal that many imperial officers were even shocked to hear of it, some even refusing to believe it was happening… Well it definitely was happening…

During this time, the Empire recruited a young Bounty Hunter named Boba Fett who had a thirst for blood, but more importantly didn’t ask questions. He was available to take any job from almost anyone… as long as the price was right…

So this is where things take a turn for the darker side. During this time, Rumors began to spread across the criminal underworld that Boba Fett had slain a Jedi Padawan during Order 66 in cold Blood. They believed he took the Braid from the cold, dead body of a Jedi traitor by himself, obviously deeply impressing them. But this actually wasn’t the case. Boba Fett was actually sent to Kashyyyk during the subjugation of the Wookiees and participated in the slaughter of many them. Boba Killed many of them and actually carved their skulls out into braids, mixing the bone with their fur. He then braided the fur and skull, crafting them into a chilling trophy to denote his skill with a blaster… Yep, pretty horrifying.

Now many years later, just after the time of the Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett and Chewbacca were brought together by the leader of Crimson Dawn Qi’ra, aboard her ship. Almost every major player in the galaxy was given an invitation to this little event because Crimson Dawn had just come into the possession of the Carbonite Frozen body of Han Solo, which of course Vader Froze in Empire.

During the event, things got very, very heated between Chewwie and Boba, with the two eventually squaring up. Boba then points to his braids and tells Chewwie that they might look familliar to him… Maybe they’re from his uncle or auntie back on Kashyyyk. As you can imagine, this leads Chewwie into an uncontrollable wookie rage, but Boba Tells him that he’s not the first Wookiee that he’s fought.
