The Bad Batch Season One - Common Ground Episode Review 1

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 1, Episode 10, «Common Ground,» now streaming on Disney+.

Following her narrow escape from Cad Bane, Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 10, «Common Ground,» finds Omega reunited with the rest of Clone Force 99 on Ord Mantell, even sharing some Mantell Mix with Wrecker. (In a funny little detail, Echo curiously sniffs a piece of the snack, attempting to understand its appeal.) With multiple bounty hunters on Omega’s tail, Hunter and Tech would prefer to keep a low profile. Cid, however, has other plans, reminding Hunter they’re still indebted to her before revealing their latest mission: a supposedly simple extraction on Raxus, the «former center of the Separatist government,» as Tech informs them.

In a first for The Bad Batch, «Common Ground» reveals what happened to the planets that aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems under the Galactic Empire. The episode opens on Raxus as the Imperial Captain Bragg addresses the masses in the planet’s capital city Raxulon, assuring them the Empire is not their enemy and will treat them «fairly.»

Of course, what the Empire really wants is unquestioning obedience from the former Separatists, same as it demands from the Galactic Republic’s worlds. As such, when Raxus’ senator Avi Singh interrupts his speech to the capital to speak out against the Empire’s «unjust occupation,» the Imperials swiftly arrest him and use their military firepower to intimidate the city’s residents.
