Star Wars: The Acolyte, Everything We Know So Far 1

In today’s Star Wars news update, we discuss new details that have emerged from Lucasfilm author Cavan Scott who is involved with The High Republic. He has stated that the upcoming series The Acolyte will draw upon existing lore within Star Wars The High Republic and beyond. Star Wars: The Acolyte is a Star Wars television series currently being developed by Leslye Headland for Disney+. Headland will write, executive produce, and serve as the series’ showrunner. The show will focus on the emergence of dark side powers and Sith Star Wars lore in the final days of the High Republic Era. It was announced by Kathleen Kennedy during Disney Investor Day 2020 along with multiple other Star Wars projects, may of which are set within the Mandalorian Universe such as the Mandalorian Season 3, The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: Ahsoka (the Ahsoka Tano series featuring Rosario Dawson) and Rangers of the New Republic!

The Acolyte is expected to be a female-led show which could even potentially include familiar characters such as Darth Tenebrous and his apprentice Darth Plagueis the Wise who was the Master of Darth Sidious – Emperor Palpatine. While James Luceno wrote a Star Wars Legends novel on Plagueis, we first heard about him in Revenge of the Sith when Palpatine told Anakin Skywalker the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise. We also discuss everything we know so far and what we might expect. We could also get a younger live-action Yoda since he was around before the Phantom Menace as well.

Disney Star Wars has certainly got a huge task on their hands with the multitude of projects coming up and after the Skywalker Saga ended with the Rise of Skywalker which drew the Sequel Trilogy to an end with the story of Rey and Kylo Ren, they might want to tell new stories from other parts of the galaxy far, far away – different from the Skywalkers. With Luke Skywalker returning to the Mandalorian Season 2 finale when he came for Baby Yoda – Grogu, the exception to this rule is that Season 3 might explore an untold part of the life of Luke after Return of the Jedi and before he exiled himself in The Force Awakens and the Last Jedi on Ahch-To Island.

This year, we can expect Star Wars The Bad Batch on May 4th, The Book of Boba Fett in December – where Temuera Morrison reprises his role as the bounty hunter who recently took over Jabba the Hutt’s Tatooine criminal underworld empire with Ming-Na Wen as his ally, Fennec Shand, and Star Wars Visions being released in between those two time periods.

As Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni confirmed, the Mandalorian Season 3 drops next year, 2022. Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze will certainly be reprising their roles in the pursuit of Mandalore, the Darksaber and of course untold stories moving forward as the Imperial Remnant Moff Gideon and potentially Grand Admiral Thrawn eventually become the First Order.
