Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter is a novel that takes place shortly before Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Narration for the audio version was performed by Michael Cumpsty. The story Darth Maul: Saboteur by James Luceno is published as a 54-page insert in the paperback version of Shadow Hunter. Previously, Saboteur was only available in eBook form. On December 27, 2011, a new paperback edition was released with a new short story, Restraint, by James Luceno featured inside.
