Cassian Jeron Andor, also known by the aliases Willix, Aach, Joreth Sward, and the codename Fulcrum, was a human male soldier, pilot, and intelligence officer who served in the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, and, later, with the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Andor was a skilled operative, working as a spy and an assassin, performing many missions for the Alliance.
As a child, Andor first fought against Galactic Republic forces in 20 BBY despite being only six years old. He also lost his father during the war. By 0 BBY, Andor was a captain for Alliance Intelligence and was assigned to assist in Operation Fracture, which was to extract an Imperial scientist, Galen Walton Erso, who had given a message to a cargo pilot, Bodhi Rook, who was defecting from the Empire to give the rebels information about a secret Imperial superweapon. Andor, with the help of his droid companion, K-2SO, and Galen’s daughter Jyn Erso, who the rebels had rescued from an Imperial prison to help with the mission, recovered Rook and learned of the Death Star. When Alliance High Command rejected Jyn’s plea to steal the Death Star plans from an Imperial installation on Scarif, Andor assembled a team of soldiers willing to act against High Command.
He and Jyn then led the Rebel team, which included K-2SO, Baze Malbus, Chirrut Îmwe, and Sergeant Ruescott Melshi, on a rogue mission to Scarif, intending to steal the plans themselves. Andor and Jyn stole Imperial uniforms to allow them to sneak in to Scarif base along with K2, while Melshi led the bulk of their forces to plant detonators around the base to cause chaos. Andor, Jyn, and K2 made their way to the vault with the plans, and meanwhile the Alliance Fleet arrived after Alliance High Command decided to reinforce the strike team. Although the mission was a success, with Jyn succeeding in beaming the plans to the Rebel fleet above Scarif, Wilhuff Tarkin fired the Death Star’s superlaser at Scarif base in an attempt to prevent the Alliance from acquiring the plans. Andor perished along with the rest of the team in the battle at the hands of the dreaded battle station.
