So, not long ago, Lucasfilm and Disney accidently revealed the titles, lengths and descriptions for the first 2 episodes of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch series, including the massive 75 minute season premiere, which is airing may the fourth. It also includes a connection to someone literally all of us have been waiting to revisit since the Clone Wars ended and a brand new shot of the same icy world where Clone Force 99 fight B-1 battle droids…
Now the first thing to determine is if these two episode boxes are actually real, or if someone has decided to use an inspect element. I looked through both the size reel and the trailer, and it does seem that the first image appears in the material already put out by Lucasfilm. I went through each of the trailers and released content over 10 times and I couldn’t find the second image anywhere in those, so I think we’re pretty safe to say that this is an original image, meaning it’s probably a real leak. But it’s pretty easy to miss these things, so make sure you go and watch the trailers again after this video to be sure.
Either way, let’s break down the leaks. To begin we got the lengths of the first two episodes. The first episode will be airing on May the fourth as a full 75 minute season opener, to kick off the series, and throw us right into the action. As is usual with Disney+, this also includes the credits, so you can assume that the actual run time of the episode will be about 70 minutes, which is the time that Lucasfilm announced a few weeks ago. And I’ll explain just why the first episode is going to be so long in a few moments, when we break down the title and description.
Following that, the next episode has a run time of 31 minutes. If you assume about 5 minutes of credits at the end of the episode, this puts us squarely at a 26 minute run time which is still longer than the average Clone Wars episode, which came in about about 22-24 minutes. Very exciting stuff.
