The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series is an upcoming Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ series that was announced by Kathleen Kennedy during Disney Investor Day 2020. It is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and will be the rematch of the century between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen has been cast to reprise his role as newly anointed Darth Vader in the wake of the creation of the Galactic Empire under the rule of Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine). The series will feature Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan during his exile on Tatooine.
In today’s Star Wars News update, we take a look at new and exciting details for the Kenobi series. Ray Park will return as Darth Maul after he teased his return on Instagram. We also learned that young Luke Skywalker has been cast. At this time in the Star Wars timeline, Luke is being watched over by Ben Kenobi as we saw in a New Hope. Temuera Morrison who recently reprised the role of Boba Fett in the Mandalorian Season 2 is set to play Commander Cody and Captain Rex from the Clone Wars and Revenge os the Sith. This is huge news for all Star Wars fans.
A month ago, we learn that the series will include flashbacks to Order 66 – the Jedi Purge and might even include Jedi Master Shaak Ti who could have been the one who saved Grogu (Baby Yoda) from the Jedi Temple. We may even get Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine.
We also talk about the Mandalorian Season 3 and how Cara Dune will be ignored entirely and killed off-screen. After Gina Carano was fired by Lucasfilm and Disney, she gave an interview with Ben Shapiro and exposed what happened at the studio. Star Wars fans have wanted Pedro Pascal fired too for what they call ‘a double standard’. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have confirmed that the Mandalorian Season 3 will be released next year with the Book of Boba Fett arriving on Disney Plus in December 2021.
Other Lucasfilm projects coming up include Rogue Squadron, Lando, Andor, Star Wars: Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, Star Wars: Visions, A Droid Story, The Acolyte and Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
Where will Season 3 of Mando take us? Will Din Djarin (Mando – Pedro Pascal) keep the Dark Saber and rule over Mandalore or will Katee Sakchoff’s character Bo-Katan Kryze challenge him for it? What about the fate of Grogu and Luke Skywalker? So many questions are left to be answered after the Mandalorian Season 2 finale (Chapter 16).
