The Mandalorian Season 2 is over and the Book of Boba Fett drops December 2021 on Disney+ with the Mandalorian Season 3 coming out in 2022, according to Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau!
In this Star Wars news update, we take a look at The Book of Boba Fett and exciting new details for the series. Charles Soule is releasing a new comic mini-series based on Boba Fett between the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It is called War of the Bounty Hunters and will be similar to Shadows of the Empire which will give backstory to upcoming live-action Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ series which is a Mandalorian Spin-off. Other than Boba Fett who is played by Temuera Morrison and Fennec Shand who is played by Ming-Na Wen, we can expect the likes of Bib Fortuna, Zuckuss, IG-88, 4-LOM, Dengar and Bossk, Rotta the Hutt from the Clone Wars, Han Solo and Chewbacca, Jodo Kast, Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant who appeared in the Mandalorian Season 2 Chapter 9), Hondo Ohnaka, Qi’ra and Cad Bane.
In the Mandalorian Season 2 finale (Season 2 Chapter 16 of the live-action Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ show), Boba and Fennec visited Jabba The Hutt’s Palace on Tatooine and took the throne of crime and villainy from Bib Fortuna. The show will be executive produced by Robert Rodriguez, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. It is a spin-off of the Mandalorian and part of the Mandalorian universe with the Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) spin-off show and Rangers of the New Republic Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze.
Going forward for the Mandalorian Season 3, we are still going to see Din Djarin (Mando – Pedro Pascal), Grogu (Baby Yoda – the Child), Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and maybe even the likes of Frog Lady! Where will the Mandalorian take us next? To Mandalore where Bo will fight Din Djarin for the Darksaber? Will we see Sabine Wren?
We also talk about Pedro Pascal and how he tried to warn Gina Carano before she was fired from Lucasfilm and Disney. Gina Carano (Cara Dune) has been fired by Lucasfilm from the Mandalorian. She will not appear in the Mandalorian Season 2 and the Season 2 finale (Chapter 16 – The Rescue) was her final performance on the live-action show. It is believed that Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune will not be re-cast and they’ll just move forward with the story of Season 3 of the live-action Star Wars and Disney+ series with Grogu (Baby Yoda – The Child), Luke Skywalker and our other heroes.
With all of the Star Wars shows and Lucasfilm projects announced by Kathleen Kennedy during Disney Investor Day 2020, this is such an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan!
