Deep in the expansion region of the Galaxy, a large armada of separatist Forces led by General Grievous attacked a crucial republic shipyard, putting the entire Grand Army in danger of being left without a fleet. In response to the attack, the Jedi council dispatched Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi to reinforce the Clone Troopers stationed there, but once he arrived they used a cruel and heartbreaking weapon on him, causing him to relive the death of his master. So, lets find out what this weapon and it almost crushed Obi-Wan…
So the story begins on the moon of Gyndine, dangerously close to the vital shipyards, which are critical to the Republic’s war effort. Without operation Of these ship years, production of Republic starfighters and capital ships will grind to a near halt. And if any of you have read the new Jedi Order series of novels, you’ll very likely remember Gyndine.
As Obi-Wan lands on the moon with his little astromech, the Clone Troopers who were already stationed there thank him for coming so quickly, and are shocked that Republic sent a Jedi Knight.
Obi-Wan is very happy to help these brave troopers out and is curious about a small detail in the Clone Commander’s report which detailed a horrible new weapon being used by the separatists, causing significant mental trauma to the Clone Troopers.
And to keep our awesome tradition going, make sure you tell me in the comments what you think this Clone Clone Commander’s name should be, since the writers of these comics always seem to leave it up to us!
After Obi-Wan tells him that the report wa concerning, the Blue trimmed Commander says that that is an understatement, before explaining that small squads of B-1 Battle droids have been picking off his troopers with alarming ease.
The few lucky Clone Troopers who do make it out alive from this brutal attacks frequently report that their bodies just would not let them fight back. Their entire mind was consumed by fear, making them terrified to even fire a single shot back at the B-1 Battle droids.
As Obi-Wan hears this, he becomes very, very concerned and tells the Commander that fear can certainly be a deadly weapon. Before he can even continue his sentence however, Obi-Wan hears a loud crash coming from nearby, wondering what in the name of the force it could be.
As he turns around he sees a droid armored assault tank filled with B-1 battle droids rushing forward towards his location. Obi-Wan tells the commander that he’s going to have to fight hard and earn his stripes this time, but strangely a large beam of blue energy waves is being fired at Kenobi and his men.
As this happens, Obi-Wan is shocked to notice that all of his men are just giving up and surrendering to the droids on their knees. The Clone Commander is once again in shock, even though he has heard the reports of this being the case, telling Obi-Wan “they’re good men, General… There’s no possible reason for them to do this… But before he can even get his final words out of his mouth, the Comander becomes weak at the knees and demands that Obi-Wan keep away from, struggling to even get his words out.
Because Obi-Wan is force sensitive and very strong in the mind, he is immune from the attack for slightly longer than his men, but unfortunately it soon consumes him too.
Obi-Wan is then thrown right into a painful flashback where he sees Master Qui-Gon battling Maul on Naboo. Obi-Wan is in genuine shock, believing that Qui-Gon should be dead because he saw him die with his own eyes.
Following this, Obi-Wan is then ripped into another traumatic flashback, this time, witnessing the Maul kill Qui-Gon, although in a slightly different way. Obi-Wan is horrified at witnessing the death of his master once again, before being jolted into a new flashback, where he shouts out “How can this happen again”, carrying his fallen master again, knowing that he has failed him”.
IN this flashback, his mind is now being completely altered by the weapon, making him also see Darth Maul impale Master Yoda directly through the chest with his lightsaber, which obviously didn’t happen, causes even more shock for Obi-Wan.
Following this, Obi-Wan is again ripped into another vision, this time where he warns anakin that his reckless behaviour will get him killed, while they are riding high above the ground in a speeder vehicle, and just as he does this, Anakin plummets out of the vehicle, down to the surface, killing him on impact.
Obi-Wan is horrified to witness his Padawan died, shouting out, but there is nothing he can do. He believes that he has first failed his master, and now his apprentice, Anakin too.
After this, he is even shown a version of reality where the separatists win the war, and force the Republic to surrender, believing that his failures have led to this.
