The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale – Chapter 16 (The Rescue) was a special moment for the entire Star Wars fandom and franchise. We got Luke Skywalker (CGI Mark Hamill) – the real Luke who doesn’t go into exile on Ahch-To Island as we saw in the Sequels (specifically The Last Jedi). He is now hopefully set to train Grogu (Baby Yoda – The Child) in the Mandalorian Season 3 which drops in 2022, according to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
In this Star Wars Theory video, we go Star Wars explained style to look into how one line in Season 2 of the live-action Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ retconned the entire premise for the Sequel Trilogy with one line. It’s a line spoken by Luke to Din Djarin (Mando – Pedro Pascal) who is now the holder of the Darksaber and thus the rightful ruler of Mandalore. With Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and the Nite Owls desperate for the weapon after Mando fought Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) for it – will she fight him in Season 3?
Star Wars fans have been angry and disappointed with Kathleen Kennedy and the treatment of Luke Skywalker in the Sequels and now with the Mandalorian Season 3 coming soon and its spin-offs which were announced at Disney Investor Day 2020 such as the Ahsoka spin-off series (Rosario Dawson), Rangers of the New Republic and the Book of Boba Fett (starring Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand), Lucasfilm have redeemed themselves thanks to Favreau, Filoni, Peyton Reed, Robert Rodriguez, Bryce Dallas-Howard and others – even the input of George Lucas himself.
