The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series is an upcoming Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney+ series that was announced by Kathleen Kennedy during Disney Investor Day 2020. It is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and will be the rematch of the century between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen has been cast to reprise his role as newly anointed Darth Vader in the wake of the creation of the Galactic Empire under the rule of Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine). The series will feature Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan during his exile on Tatooine.
In today’s Star Wars News update, we take a look at new and exciting information for the Kenobi series. It’s believed that we will see Darth Vader visiting Naboo to see the Tomb of Padmé Amidala (Padme’s Mausoleum). Will Natalie Portman reprise the role of Padme in the Kenobi series? Since we are returning to the Gungan homeworld, will we see Jar Jar Binks?
Previously, we learned that the series will include flashbacks to Order 66 – the Jedi Purge and might even include Jedi Master Shaak Ti who could have been the one who saved Grogu (Baby Yoda) from the Jedi Temple. We also discussed the possibility of Darth Maul returning in live-action. After his appearances in the Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Rebels, The Clone Wars and Solo: A Star Wars Story, he could appear yet again! Will Ray Park be back in action? We may even get Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine. It’s also been confirmed that Temuera Morrison (who played Boba Fett in the Mandalorian Season 2) will be reprising the role of Commander Cody and Rex.
The Mandalorian Season 3 drops in 2022 according to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The Book of Boba Fett drops in December 2021 and with the new Lucasfilm and Disney+ direction, the Star Wars fandom seems restored after the Sequel Trilogy. With the Ahsoka Tano series (Rosario Dawson), Rangers of the New Republic (with Gina Carano as Cara Dune and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze), Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars Visions, the Cassian Andor series, The Bad Batch (The Clone Wars spin-off series) Lando and many more, this is an amazing time to be a Star Wars fan – plus recent The Mandalorian Season 3 news states that George Lucas could have more influence!
